VVA Consultants is supporting a specialist infrastructure advisory firm in the search for a Senior Design & Construction Lead to join a major transit project in Los Angeles as an Independent Contractor .
The Project
The role is connected to the Sepulveda Transit Corridor , a major rail and tunneling program that will deliver a high-capacity connection between the San Fernando Valley and the Westside—one of the most congested transport corridors in the region.
Scope of Work
As a senior advisor within a complex PPP environment , you will provide oversight across design and construction considerations for rail and underground infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Coordination: Lead the review and coordination of multidisciplinary design with a focus on constructability.
Technical Oversight: Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, designers, and delivery stakeholders.
Decision Support: Support technical decision-making, ensuring solutions are practical and buildable.
Risk Management: Identify technical and delivery risks, gaps, and optimization opportunities.
Stakeholder Interface: Interface with engineering teams, construction stakeholders, and project partners.
Strategic Contribution: Support design development across key project milestones, integrating means & methods considerations and contributing to the overall delivery approach.
Required Professional Profile
We are seeking a seasoned professional with the following expertise:
15+ years of experience in rail, metro, or tunneling infrastructure.
Dual Expertise: Strong background across both design and construction / delivery of major projects.
Project History: Proven experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, ideally within PPP environments.
Local Knowledge: Experience with LA Metro projects or similar environments.
Senior Leadership: Ability to bridge design and construction while operating with confidence at a senior level.
Residency: Based in Los Angeles or willing to relocate for the duration of the project.
Success Factors
Capability to challenge design solutions from a delivery and risk perspective.
Experience navigating complex, multi-stakeholder project environments.
Clear communication and stakeholder management skills.
Solid understanding of transit infrastructure delivery.
