Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Design Engineer to serve as Structural and Payload Design Engineer for our team in El Segundo, CA to focus on antenna structures.
Position Responsibilities
Develop, integrate, and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
Develop, maintain, and modify basic structural and interior payload system and component designs using 3‑D CAD tools (such as Creo Parametric) and other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
Validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
Manage supplier development and test and production activities. Coordinate with suppliers to optimize design and achieve program goals.
Develop new design and analysis processes and tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
Years of related experience: 3+ for level 3, 5+ for level 4.
Experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
Experience in Space Hardware environments, such as satellites.
Experience with structural engineering, payload engineering, or systems engineering.
Experience with composite materials and processes, such as honeycomb sandwich panels, carbon fiber layups, graphite layups.
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences).
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
Antenna Structures or Antenna Systems experience.
Composite experience.
RF Components experience.
Satellite experience.
Experience working with manufacturing methods, fabrication or assembly processes.
Typical Education & Experience
Level 3: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non‑U.S. equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Level 4: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non‑U.S. equivalent qualifications. Ability and willingness to work occasional compensated ad hoc support outside of typical business hours. This position is for 1st shift.

Summary Pay Range:
Level 3: $111,350 – $150,650
Level 4: $135,150 – $182,850
