Market Research Analyst- Future Of Film & Series Practice

National Research Group, New York, NY, United States

About the Company
NRG is a leading global insights and strategy firm at the confluence of content, culture, and technology.

Overview
NRG is seeking a Research Analyst to join our Future Of practice, supporting our flagship syndicated biannual landscape studies: Future of Film and Future of Series – which elevate consumer trends into clear, actionable strategic guidance for our studio and streaming clients.

This role sits at the intersection of research, storytelling, and cultural intelligence. You’ll dive into qualitative and quantitative research to track, analyze, and translate what’s happening across the entertainment ecosystem—from audience behavior and industry strategy to evolving cultural shifts.

Responsibilities

Support all phases of quantitative and qualitative research tied to Future of Film and Future of Series, from early design through final delivery.

Translate data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations through visual, creative, and story‑driven reports.

Conduct ongoing landscape and trends research, tracking developments across film, television, streaming, platforms, talent, technology, and audience behavior.

Source, synthesize, and contextualize information from proprietary data, third‑party data (e.g., Box Office Mojo), and cultural signals.

Organize and maintain project materials, including databases and trackers, ensuring clarity, version control, and accessibility.

Manage survey logic proofing, link testing, and QA before launch.

Conduct data checks and number validation to support accuracy across reports, presentations, and data repositories.

Support presentation development, including slide builds, script drafting, and narrative flow for client readouts.

Assist with qualitative research setup and coordination, support discussion guides, materials prep, and collaborate with moderators and operations teams.

Partner closely with internal teams (programming, fieldwork, data processing, design) to keep projects moving forward on tight timelines.

Contribute to external‑facing thinking—shaping POVs, frameworks, and narratives for reports and broader thought‑leadership moments.

Provide overflow support to the broader Content Development & Marketing Strategy practice during non‑peak periods.

Leverage AI‑enabled approaches to enhance speed, scale, and depth of insight generation across research and storytelling.

Qualifications

Prior experience in market research or consumer insights (internship or work experience) is a plus, but not required. Recent graduates or early‑career candidates are welcome.

Strong writing and storytelling skills: turning complex findings into clear, compelling narratives, reports, slides, or presentations.

Curious and future‑mindful: consistently seeking the “whys” and asking what’s changing and what’s next, especially regarding audiences, technology, and content strategy.

Consumer‑to‑market translator: skilled at moving from consumer insight to strategic implication for studios, platforms, and content teams.

Problem‑solver: proactive in seeking solutions when something doesn’t go as planned.

Data‑driven critical thinker with comfort working with both structured and unstructured data; experience visualizing data with Excel and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of statistical techniques such as significance testing, correlation analysis, multivariate analysis, cluster/segmentation, conjoint or discrete choice analysis; experience with SPSS, Q, or advanced analytics is a plus.

AI‑curious and capable: experienced using AI tools thoughtfully to enhance, not replace, insight work.

Self‑starter: motivated internally and proactive in delivering outcomes.

Clear and proactive communicator: excellent verbal communication, able to convey ideas clearly and succinctly.

Hawk‑eyed attention to detail, ensuring high levels of quality control.

Team player: collaborates harmoniously across groups and welcomes feedback.

Degree: B.A./B.S. in Social Sciences, Psychology, Business, Marketing, Market Research, Statistics, Economics, or related field. Additional degrees welcome.
