Position Summary
The Field Service Technician I serves as the primary on-site technical representative for a global leader in Plastics manufacturing Industry. This role requires extensive travel to perform installation, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs on high-speed packaging machinery. The technician acts as a vital communication link between the client and the corporate engineering and project management teams.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support:
Perform hands-on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting. Study complex schematics and blueprints to diagnose and resolve equipment failures.
Installation & Commissioning:
Lead the assembly, leveling, and power-up of new machinery at client sites. Perform quality inspections and ensure equipment meets performance specifications.
Client Training:
Coach onsite operators and maintenance staff on machine functionality, safety protocols, and changeover procedures for different product formats.
Documentation:
Complete detailed service reports, expense claims, and equipment acceptance forms within established deadlines. Audit spare parts inventory and recommend necessary orders to minimize downtime.
Collaboration:
Interface with internal Engineering, Production, and Parts departments to resolve persistent technical issues or project-specific hurdles.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education:
Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, or a professional certificate in an industrial trade.
Experience:
2+ years of experience in the maintenance or service of automated equipment, preferably within the food, beverage, chemical, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic software. Mastery of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) for professional reporting.
Communication:
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor under pressure and communicate effectively with international personnel and diverse management teams.
Logistics:
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Ability to manage complex travel itineraries and provide on-call support during weekends or emergencies.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Physicality:
Regularly required to stand, kneel, and crawl in tight spaces. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and distinguish color-coded wiring.
Environment:
Work is performed in active production facilities with exposure to moving mechanical parts, loud noise levels, and occasional electrical hazards.
Safety:
Strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and the use of PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.) is mandatory.
In addition to the Base, the position has the following benefits:
OT after 8 hours a day
Per Diem of $75 a day, no receipts needed
Incentive Program for Parts or Upgrades sold
