Position: Business Development Manager (Project Manager II)
Employment: Full‑time (40 hrs / week)
Salary: $55,000 – $60,000 per year (experience and qualifications dependent)

POSITION OVERVIEW
The State Bar of New Mexico (SBNM) seeks a full‑time Business Development Manager to lead and execute its non‑dues revenue initiatives, including advertising sales for the Bar Bulletin, sponsorship development, and room‑rental business development at the State Bar Center. The incumbent will manage the full sales lifecycle—prospecting, relationship development, proposal preparation, contract coordination, and renewal management—while maintaining accurate pipeline reporting through the organization’s CRM system and collaborating with Communications, Operations, and Accounting to ensure a seamless client experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement strategies to achieve annual non‑dues revenue goals for advertising, sponsorships, and room rentals.
Manage advertising sales for the Bar Bulletin, including prospecting new advertisers, managing relationships, coordinating placements, and overseeing renewals.
Develop and secure sponsorship opportunities for State Bar publications, programs, and special initiatives.
Promote and expand usage of the State Bar Center’s meeting and event spaces through room‑rental business development.
Manage rental inquiries, client communications, contract coordination, and scheduling collaboration with operations staff.
Maintain accurate records of sales activity, advertising placements, sponsorship commitments, and room‑rental bookings within the CRM.
Generate monthly sales reports and revenue forecasts for organizational leadership.
Monitor advertiser and sponsor renewal cycles and maintain follow‑up communications to ensure retention.
Work closely with the Communications team to coordinate marketing campaigns, advertising schedules, and promotional initiatives.
Collaborate with Accounting to ensure accurate invoicing, payment tracking, and revenue reconciliation.
Represent the State Bar in building relationships with law firms, legal vendors, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community partners.
Represent the State Bar at professional networking events, community gatherings, and outreach opportunities.
Identify and develop relationships with organizations across the legal community, government sector, nonprofit organizations, and local businesses.
Support special publication and sponsorship initiatives, including commemorative editions and other revenue‑generating projects.
Maintain organized documentation related to business development activities, contracts, and client relationships.
Other Responsibilities
Assist in developing new revenue opportunities aligned with State Bar programs and initiatives.
Maintain clear documentation of sales processes, procedures, and client relationship histories.
Assist leadership in identifying new partnership opportunities that support the mission.
Participate in internal planning discussions related to marketing campaigns, sponsorship initiatives, and revenue strategies.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief Operating Officer.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field and at least 2 years of progressive professional experience.
Preference will be given to candidates with direct experience in business development, advertising sales, sponsorship sales, or related revenue‑generating roles.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for working with attorneys, members of the public, vendors, and partners.
Strong relationship‑building and client‑development skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage a full sales cycle from prospecting through contract execution and renewal.
Experience managing sales pipelines and reporting using CRM systems (HubSpot or similar preferred).
Strong organizational and project‑management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing excellent customer service.
Strong project‑management, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
Administrative skills—including the ability to organize workload and manage several areas of responsibility.
Ability to determine priorities and advise supervisors when conflicts in priorities exist.
Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations and exercise sound judgment.
