AI Agent Software Engineer

on behalf of a

top AI-driven technology client

building next-generation autonomous customer experience systems across industries including finance, healthcare, and travel.

This role offers the opportunity to build production-grade AI agents that autonomously handle complex, real-world customer interactions traditionally managed by human support teams. The engineer in this role will own features end-to-end—from concept and design through deployment and iteration—while collaborating closely with product, operations, and customer-facing teams.

The ideal candidate is a strong software engineer with curiosity about AI systems, a bias toward ownership, and a desire to build reliable, transparent, and scalable agent-based platforms.

Base pay range
$185,000.00/yr - $275,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

Design and build AI-driven voice and chat agents that deliver high accuracy, efficiency, and customer satisfaction

Translate natural language instructions into structured, auditable workflows using a proprietary agent logic framework

Own full-cycle development from system design through deployment and continuous improvement

Analyze agent performance data to identify trends and drive behavioral and platform-level improvements

Experiment with and integrate modern voice and language models, tuning for enterprise reliability, latency, and scale

Use real-time observability and tracing tools to understand, debug, and improve agent decision-making

Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, customer teams, and operations partners to solve real business problems

Requirements

2+ years of professional software engineering experience working on production systems with real users

Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript, including asynchronous programming and error handling

Solid debugging and troubleshooting skills using logs, profilers, and raw data analysis

Strong computer science fundamentals (language background flexible)

Proactive mindset with curiosity around how AI agents reason, fail, and improve

Willingness to learn—prior AI experience is not required

Nice to Have

Exposure to multimodal AI systems or voice interface development

Experience with enterprise customer experience or conversational automation platforms

Interest in tools that improve agent transparency through testing, visualization, and simulation
