Program Summary

Project HOPE is providing humanitarian assistance to the conflict-affected population in Gaza, focusing on Health, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, Protection, and WASH programming.

Position Summary

The Communications Assistant supports communication and visibility activities for Project HOPE’s Gaza programming. Reporting to the Communications Officer, the role assists in content development, media coordination, documentation, and administration to ensure timely, accurate, consistent communication outputs. The Assistant gathers field content, organizes materials, and supports internal and external visibility efforts aligned with branding and safeguarding standards.

Principal Responsibilities

Content Support & Documentation

Develop communication materials including success stories, human-interest stories, social media content, and program updates.

Conduct interviews with program staff and beneficiaries.

Draft initial content for review and finalization by the Communications Officer.

Organize and maintain photo libraries, consent forms, and communication archives.

Ensure proper documentation and filing of communication products.

Media & Visibility Support

Coordinate media visits, interviews, and field missions.

Prepare logistical arrangements and briefing materials for media engagements.

Monitor media coverage and compile media tracking reports.

Prepare and display visibility materials at program sites.

Social Media & Digital Communications

Draft and schedule social media content in coordination with the Communications Officer.

Monitor online engagement and compile basic analytics reports.

Ensure digital content aligns with messaging, branding, and safeguarding standards.

Emergency & Rapid Communications Support

Gather and compile information during emergencies or program disruptions.

Prepare situation updates, key messages, and communication briefs.

Coordination & Administrative Support

Coordinate with program teams to collect photos, testimonials, and updates.

Maintain communication trackers, content calendars, and reporting logs.

Support procurement or coordination of communication-related materials.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, media studies, public relations, marketing, or related field.

0–1 year of relevant experience in communications, media, public relations, or content development; experience in humanitarian or NGO sector is an advantage.

Strong writing and editing skills in Arabic; good working proficiency in English.

Basic photography and/or videography skills are an asset.

Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content management tools.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and understanding of humanitarian principles.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Mobile in office environment; use standard office equipment; communicate in verbal and written form; travel required. Employees may travel to or work in hardship conditions. The role is based in Gaza; candidate must work in rapidly changing environment and in resource-deprived, austere living conditions. Travel may be by air or other modes for extended periods.
