
Media Systems Specialist

We are a leading online learning platform dedicated to making learning limitless. The Media Systems Specialist supports the 2U Learning division by maintaining media post‑production systems and workflows, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors.
Location: Crystal City, VA.
Remote candidates from across the U.S. are considered, but preference will be given to those who live in the Washington‑Baltimore metropolitan area and can be present at our headquarters in Arlington, VA two days a week.
Responsibilities
Post‑Production Systems Support & Operations: support the administration and day‑to‑day operations of media post‑production systems including media asset management (MAM) and storage infrastructure (AWS/S3).
Monitor system performance and elevate issues as needed.
Assist in maintaining post‑production systems, including user access, permissions, and licensing.
Troubleshoot basic system issues, including access errors, offline media, and workflow interruptions.
Support ingestion, transcoding, and delivery workflows from ingest through final output.
Partner with Engineering and senior team members to monitor storage usage and system health.
Assist in managing and tracking physical storage (hard drives, RAIDs, etc.).
Support configuration and maintenance of post‑production and related software.
Document and elevate system bugs or failures to appropriate stakeholders or vendors.
Assist with media quality control checks and flag issues for resolution.
Provide support to editors and production teams for day‑to‑day technical needs.
Support the development and execution of efficient post‑production workflows.
Assist in maintaining and improving workflows based on established best practices.
Contribute to documentation including SOPs, user guides, and workflow diagrams.
Support implementation of workflow updates and process improvements.
Help maintain MAM metadata organization and naming conventions.
Assist in testing tools, integrations, and workflow enhancements.
Identify opportunities for increased efficiency and elevate recommendations.
Support communication of workflow updates to internal teams and vendors.
Provide day‑to‑day support and guidance to internal teams and external partners.
Assist in onboarding users to post‑production systems and workflows.
Provide basic training and support to editors, producers, and vendors.
Help develop training materials including guides and screen recordings.
Respond to user questions and troubleshoot common issues.
Support rollout of new tools, features, or updates.
Support cross‑functional initiatives related to media systems and operations.
Take on additional tasks as needed to support the team.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Video/Media Production, Post Production, or related field preferred.
3–6 years of experience in video production, post‑production, or media systems support.
Familiarity with post‑production workflows including ingest, editing, transcoding, and delivery.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Media Encoder).
Basic understanding of media formats, codecs, frame rates, and file structures.
Exposure to media asset management systems is a plus.
Familiarity with cloud storage environments (AWS/S3) preferred but not required.
Basic understanding of system administration concepts and troubleshooting workflows.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Strong communication skills with the ability to support both technical and non‑technical users.
Collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn and grow within a technical environment.
Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to elevate issues appropriately.
