This role is a mix of:
Communications – email campaigns, LinkedIn, website updates
Data + systems – Salesforce, reporting, keeping things organized
Events – groundbreakings, community events, logistics

Description: What you’ll be doing
Another Source’s client, Housing Trust, is recruiting a Development and Communications Assistant to join their team in San Jose, CA. This is a hybrid role, working 4 days onsite and 1 day remotely.

About this role
The Development and Communications Assistant (DCA) reports to the Chief Development and Impact Officer and works closely with the Communications and Development team to provide strong administrative support for the department’s overall operations.
This role is a critical member of the team, supporting key initiatives including planning and executing events, updating marketing collateral, maintaining digital platforms, and managing contact data. It offers the opportunity to contribute directly to mission‑driven work that expands access to affordable housing across the Bay Area.
Your Contribution Will Likely Include:
Communications (40%)
Support marketing and outreach efforts by creating and sending segmented email blasts and newsletters
Design flyers and update marketing collateral
Assist with social media content, primarily LinkedIn
Attend partner events, coordinate coverage, take and edit photos, and prepare visual assets using tools such as Canva and PowerPoint
Maintain and update website content
Support additional communication projects as needed
Department Administration (40%)
Maintain the contact database in Salesforce, including data entry, record updates, and list segmentation
Support data integrity across systems including Salesforce and Box, coordinating with outside contractors as needed
Compile and report on analytics from social media, the website, and other platforms
Process purchase orders, invoices, and payment requests
Perform additional administrative responsibilities as assigned
Events & Development (20%)
Compile briefs for groundbreakings, grand openings, and other events
Manage pre‑and post‑event logistics for in‑person and virtual events
Coordinate with venues, caterers, AV providers, and other vendors
Support event‑related communications with sponsors and guests
Track event attendance across platforms including Constant Contact, Eventbrite, and Salesforce
Provide day‑of event support
Maintain accurate event listings across calendars
Support donation and payment processing
Experience You Will Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred; or 5+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in an office setting preferred
Proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Experience with WordPress or similar content management systems
Experience with or willingness to learn CRM tools such as Salesforce and Box
Experience with or willingness to learn marketing tools such as Constant Contact and Canva
Experience with project management tools such as Asana, or willingness to learn
Ability to manage digital photo assets for web and social media
Comfort with or curiosity about using AI tools to support work
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to compile and present data effectively
Alignment with and enthusiasm for Housing Trust’s mission
High level of integrity and professionalism
Ability to collaborate effectively and work both independently and as part of a team
Compensation & Benefits:
The hourly range for this position is $31.73 – $38.46 .
Housing Trust offers a competitive total compensation package, including:
Medical, dental, and vision coverage fully paid for employees, with 50% of premiums covered for eligible dependents
Employer‑funded 401(k) contribution of 3%, plus an additional match of up to 2%
Generous paid time off, including three weeks of vacation, twelve sick days, eleven holidays, and a year‑end office shutdown
Eligibility for an annual performance‑based bonus
Tuition reimbursement and additional benefits
