X‑Ray Technician
Responsibilities
Perform MRI, CT, diagnostic imaging, C‑Arm and X‑Ray procedures under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer.
Interview patients to obtain history, explain safety and contrast media contraindications and procedures.
Demonstrate compliance with state, federal and accrediting body standards in radiology.
Properly clean X‑ray equipment and handle biohazard materials.
Ensure patient and employee safety by using safety equipment, posting radiation safety signs, monitoring dosimeter badges and documenting exposure.
Position patients, adjust immobilization devices, provide breathing instructions and observe during procedures.
Enter patient information accurately, select appropriate protocol, and perform scans within acceptable time frames.
Transport equipment and patients safely to prevent injury or damage.
Conduct X‑Ray, C‑Arm fluoroscopy, CT, MRI, mammography and procedure technology as required based on competencies and certifications.
Apply developmental and age considerations in interactions with patients and families.
Maintain confidentiality of all patient care, personnel and strategic information.
Adhere to hospital policies, code of conduct, diversity and continuous quality improvement principles.
Identify and mitigate patient risks, report incidents and follow hospital protocols.
Maintain positive working relationships and uphold honesty, mutual respect, and customer‑service values.
Perform other duties reasonably within the scope of the job classification.
Qualifications
Graduated from an AMA‑approved program in Radiologic Technology.
Minimum 2 years of experience as a technologist in a surgical setting.
Current BLS certification through an ARC or AHA accredited program.
Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or eligibility to obtain within one year of hire and license by the North Carolina State Board of Radiologic Technologists.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Computer proficiency and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong critical‑thinking skills.
