Role Summary
The Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and securing the organization’s IT infrastructure. This role ensures the reliable operation of systems, networks, and end-user environments through proactive management, troubleshooting, and deployment of hardware and software solutions. As an ideal team player, the Systems Administrator demonstrates a humble, hungry, and smart mindset—showing initiative, collaborating effectively, and exercising strong judgment in dynamic environments. The position also plays a critical role in asset lifecycle management, compliance, and adherence to government contracting (GovCon) and export control regulations, including ITAR and EAR requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

Administer, maintain, and monitor servers, workstations, and network systems.

Perform system upgrades, patching, and routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and security.

Provide Tier 1–3 technical support, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.

Maintain system documentation, configurations, and standard operating procedures.

Investigate and resolve system outages, performance issues, and user-reported incidents.

Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Support end-users with technical issues related to operating systems, applications, and connectivity.

Install, configure, and deploy new hardware (desktops, laptops, servers, peripherals).

Install, update, and manage software applications across the organization.

Ensure proper system imaging, provisioning, and user setup in accordance with company standards.

Track and manage IT assets throughout their lifecycle (procurement, deployment, maintenance, retirement).

Maintain accurate inventory records and asset tracking systems.

Conduct periodic audits to ensure accountability and compliance.

Coordinate ordering of IT equipment and software licenses.

Evaluate hardware/software needs and recommend appropriate solutions.

Deploy and configure new equipment for employees and projects.

Ensure systems comply with cybersecurity policies, standards, and best practices.

Support implementation and maintenance of network security measures (firewalls, antivirus, access controls).

Assist with audits, vulnerability assessments, and remediation efforts.

Enforce user access controls and data protection policies.

Maintain strict adherence to government contracting requirements.

Ensure all IT systems and processes comply with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations).

Support secure handling, storage, and transmission of controlled information.

Participate in compliance training and audits as required.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

3+ years of experience in systems administration or IT support.

Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking environments.

Experience with Windows/Linux operating systems and enterprise applications.

Familiarity with network infrastructure, security principles, and system monitoring tools.

Ability to obtain and maintain any required US security clearances (when applicable).

Must handle sensitive and controlled information in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

Preferred

Experience in government contracting environments.

Knowledge of ITAR/EAR compliance requirements.

Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Network+, Microsoft, Cisco).

Experience with asset management systems and IT service management tools.

Familiarity with CMMC and NIST 800-171.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods of time, including prolonged work at a computer and during installations or troubleshooting.

Ability to lift and carry IT equipment up to approximately 50 pounds (e.g., servers, desktops, monitors, and networking hardware).

Ability to install, service, and configure equipment in confined spaces, including under desks and within server racks.

Ability to climb ladders and perform overhead cabling when necessary.

Manual dexterity to handle cables, tools, and small hardware components.

Ability to work in office, lab, and server room environments, including exposure to moderate noise levels and temperature variations.

Visual acuity to read screens, technical documentation, and equipment labels.

Ability to travel between office locations or work sites, as needed.
