Job Summary
Exciting opportunity to work at Ocean Downs Casino Racetrack, located near Ocean City, MD. This is a seasonal part-time role at our racetrack. If you would like to join a great company, we would love to have you!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work with the presiding judge to verify that all equipment is in good working order prior to each racing program.
Ensure the functionality of timing every race using an approved electronic timing device.
Verify the timing of each race and record the times accurately.
Assist judges in situations where photo finishes are necessary to determine horse positions at the end of races.
Communicate (written and verbal) with team members and guests to promote positive relations.
Maintain professionalism when working with team members and guests.
Adapt to a wide array of situations in a short period of time.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
Must be versed and trained by the independent timing and photo finish company that conducts this function at the racetrack.
Must be able to operate machinery used in timing and photo finish operations, including knowledge of backup systems and capabilities.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the necessary functions of this position, including understanding written, verbal, and demonstrated directions.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a License issued by the Maryland Racing Commission as required of all Racing Services employees.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time without difficulty.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
