Summary:
As a first point of access for Lee Health customers this position completes and assists with registration, insurance verification, authorization, price estimation, denial prevention, claims processing, and financial screening to secure maximum reimbursement for the Health System. This position is also responsible for confirming patient identity and uses Epic and on-line resources to ensure Medicare medical necessity and billing requirements have been met. It requires excellent verbal, analytical and customer service skills due to the varying methods of communication which occur telephonically, in written form, electronically, in person, and bedside in a direct clinical care setting. It requires extensive governmental regulation adherence, computer knowledge and analytical experience to navigate and interpret information provided by a multitude of payers to ensure both claim and billing requirements have been completed, entered, and are accurate. This position also requires general payor contracting and chargemaster experience to ensure accurate price estimation to comply with governmental pricing transparency requirements. The ability to multi-task while using critical thinking skills to appropriately handle work complexity in a fast-paced environment is essential, always providing an exceptional patient experience. Due to the emergency department setting, must be able to perform in a physically and emotionally demanding 24/7 work environment.
Responsibilities
Complete registration, insurance verification, authorization, price estimation, denial prevention, and claims processing.
Perform financial screening to secure maximum reimbursement for the Health System.
Confirm patient identity and verify medical necessity and billing requirements using Epic and online resources.
Navigate and interpret information from multiple payers to ensure accuracy of claims and billing.
Apply general payor contracting and chargemaster knowledge to ensure compliant pricing and pricing transparency.
Multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of customer service.
Work in a 24/7 emergency department setting and adapt to physically and emotionally demanding conditions.
Qualifications
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Post high school training or associate degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year in a customer relations role and minimum of 1 year of revenue cycle experience; Epic experience preferred.

Medical terminology knowledge required. Excellent computer skills. Ability to speak multiple languages is helpful. Knowledge and understanding of telephone etiquette with strong listening and verbal/written communication skills.
