Opportunity
Intern will work within the Micro Mission Systems group, focusing on flight hardware integration and testing support, including preparation for environmental testing. The intern will be mentored by industry professionals and gain hands‑on experience.
Essential Functions
Clean Ka Flat Panel antennas from post‑painting residue using lint‑free Q‑tips.
Maintain laboratory conditions, tools, and supplies; keep floors and benches clean and organize waste bins and hand tools.
Clean and trim prototype parts created by 3D printing, including electronic shielding, minor brackets, and fit‑test models.
Remove structural supports, sand, smooth, and clean parts as needed.
Assemble small fixtures or mechanical aids under engineering direction.
Receive training in Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) fundamentals before entering the cleanroom.
Non‑Essential Functions
Perform other duties as requested that may become essential.
Program Details
8‑12 weeks
Full‑time (8:30 am–5:00 pm, Monday–Friday)
Hourly, non‑exempt, temporary position
Minimum Qualifications
Basic Mac and PC literacy.
Familiarity with mechanical terminology and hand tools.
Solid experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Basic math, strong written and oral communication skills.
Detail oriented, dependable, with strong multi‑tasking and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands‑on experience in manufacturing.
Knowledge of mechanical assembly and fabrication.
Proficient in basic math and science.
Physical Requirements
Must comprehend and communicate complex technical concepts, remain in a stationary position while using a computer for prolonged periods, work in a cleanroom wearing required outer garments, lift and carry up to 10 lbs, use hand tools and limited power tools, manage high stress with multiple priorities, tolerate ambiguity, and prioritize workload.
