Position
Automated Maintenance Technician II – Houston, TX Fulfillment Center.
Chewy is recruiting an experienced technician to support the fast‑paced operations of our fulfillment center. The role involves maintaining a wide variety of facilities, maintenance, and utilities across the center.
What You'll Do
Maintain, clean, lubricate, calibrate, and troubleshoot all electrical and mechanical aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) on site—including conveyor systems, sortation systems, carton rectors, print and apply, compactors/balers, and associated motors, photoeyes, relays, proximity sensors, solenoids, motor starters, encoders, etc.
Adjust scanners, cameras, scales, and printer applicators (PANDA).
Reset, repair, or replace adjustable components such as belts, chains, cables, and wearing components such as guides, bearings, wheels, rollers, pulleys.
Use appropriate job plans, procedures, and manuals.
Assist with basic electronics and Programmable Logic Controls troubleshooting.
Operate handheld devices or desktop PC to build and close Work Orders with data—including labor hours, downtime, problem/cause/remedy, and parts used.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.
Follow safety procedures, use personal protective equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment (Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc.), and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating equipment safety hazards.
Physical Demands
Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
Walking within and around the site, including up and down several flights of stairs; standing/walking for up to 10‑12 hours.
Ability to climb ladders safely and work off platforms and equipment at significant heights.
Full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists, eye/hand coordination, feet, and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation).
Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours, and uneven surfaces.
Qualifications
PC proficiency and ability to use handheld devices.
Familiarity with wiring diagrams, symbols, and electrical measuring.
Experience in work order management, preventive/predictive maintenance procedures, Industrial Controls and Electronics; troubleshoot basic input/output functions.
Basic blueprint and schematic reading; metal fabrication and welding.
Basic understanding of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programs.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Desired Qualifications
Degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in Mechanical or Electrical field, and/or 3‑5 years hands‑on experience in a related field.
Experience with automated conveyor systems and controls.
Experience with MHE safety standards.
