Senior Accountant
to join our finance team. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced environment, possesses a sharp technical eye for GAAP compliance, and is motivated by the opportunity to scale accounting operations.
Background
3–5 years of progressive accounting experience; a mix of public accounting and in‑house experience strongly preferred.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license (active or in‑progress).
Strong foundational knowledge of U.S. GAAP and proficiency with ERP systems.
“Builder” mentality: Find ways to make a process or accounting area better, faster and more accurate.
Advanced Excel skills required. Experience leveraging AI/automation tools a plus.
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain accounting treatments to non‑finance stakeholders.
Obsessive attention to detail and highest level of integrity.
Responsibilities
Month‑End Close: Prepare and post journal entries for key accounting areas including those involving management estimation. Full ownership of balance sheet accounts.
Variance analysis: Prepare substantiated variance analysis vs. budget and prior year. Translate accounting results into narratives that non‑finance stakeholders can understand.
Audit and Compliance: Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; prepare audit workpapers, manage request lists, and ensure a seamless year‑end audit process.
Process Enhancement: Proactively identify bottlenecks in the accounting cycle and implement automation, AI tools or workflow improvements to increase efficiency. Draft and maintain comprehensive formal process documentation; assist in the design and implementation of internal controls.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with teams to ensure accounting workflows reflect the current state of the business.
The salary range for this role is $90,000 – $100,000. This full‑time role will be hybrid at our office in NYC (Tuesdays & Thursdays).
