Underground Transmission Line Design Engineer

Overview Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is a leading power engineering consultant firm that provides engineering, system planning and studies, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing and construction services to electric utilities, energy developers and industrials throughout the U.S. Our experience includes system voltages from 4.16 kV through 765 kV. ECI has an immediate opening for an Underground Transmission Line Design Engineer in Boise, ID.
Responsibilities Conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new and upgraded transmission lines, including material review and construction support through line energization.
Work under the direction and mentorship of a Project Engineer to develop design calculations, detail drawings, specifications, and other documents for the construction of power line facilities.
Create project scope documents; design modeling using AutoCAD Civil 3D software; engineering review of line termination structures; develop plan & profile drawing sets; create staking sheets and other construction exhibits; produce material and construction specifications; and perform other design tasks as needed.
Design Engineers assist the Project Engineer in the coordination, quality monitoring and oversight of designers, drafters, and support staff.
Minimum Requirements Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering required; design engineering experience is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and planning skills; ability to work in a team environment; commitment to quality and accuracy; and a willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules.
A commitment to progress towards PE licensure is highly encouraged.
Fundamental knowledge of transmission engineering principles and applicable codes and standards.

Occasional travel/driving is required and the applicant will be subject to ECI’s auto insurance carrier requirements.
