MCNCE VISTA - Communications & Impact Systems Specialist
AmeriCorps, Missoula, MT, United States
Overview
Cultivating Connections Montana (CCMT) is a Bitterroot Valley nonprofit dedicated to increasing access to nutritious local food, supporting at‑risk youth, and building community resilience for low‑income families, elders, adults with special abilities, and rural households through programs including community gardens, farmstands, youth internships, and inclusive community events. The goal of this project is to increase the reach, reliability, and sustainability of CCMT's community food and youth programs by building durable communications, volunteer coordination, and evaluation systems. The VISTA member will develop organization‑wide tools, including a content calendar, branded Canva templates, a communications style guide, volunteer recruitment workflows, and KPI dashboards, and cultivate an academic partnership with MSU's Department of Food Systems, Nutrition, and Kinesiology to enrich data‑informed practices. By equipping CCMT with codified systems and expanded partnerships, this project addresses poverty by improving access to nutritious local food, reducing household food costs through home gardening, and strengthening work‑readiness pathways and confidence for Bitterroot Valley youth. Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement (MCNCE) serves as the intermediary for this project. MCNCE is a coalition of colleges and universities dedicated to fostering civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across Montana. Led by CEOs from participating institutions, MCNCE works to improve community life and educate students on civic and social responsibility, preparing them to be thoughtful, compassionate, and engaged leaders.
Member Duties
The VISTA member will design a social media content workflow, Canva template suite, and brand style guide to reduce information barriers and expand awareness of CCMT's programs.
The member will build Mailchimp email automation, strengthen partner cross‑promotion systems, and develop frameworks for staff to engage micro‑focus groups to identify participation barriers among underserved residents.
VISTA will evaluate and improve volunteer recruitment and onboarding workflows and implement a shared scheduling system to expand service capacity.
The member will develop data collection protocols, KPI dashboards, and communications toolkits for CCMT's MAYDAY! Gardens, Youth Internship, Farmstand, and GIVEBACK! Initiative, then create training materials for staff and volunteers to replicate key workflows through documented step‑by‑step guides.
