Industrial Maintenance Mechanic – All Shifts – Union City, TN
Location: Union City, TN (Hickman Rd or GFD plant).
Pay range: $22.35 – $31.95 per hour (depends on experience).
Position type: Full‑time.
Internal Requirements
Must have been in current position at least 90 days to be eligible for promotion, demotion, or shift/line transfer.
No more than 3 points at the time of posting.
No more than one write‑up in the last 6 months.
No suspensions in the last 6 months.
Prior Tyson Workers
Rehire waiting period of 365 days and a limit of three prior employments.
Education and Experience Requirements
At least one year of industrial maintenance experience documented in the work history section or graduation from a maintenance technical school/program (education must be documented).
Responsibilities
Install facility machinery.
Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery.
Troubleshoot and repair facility machinery.
Program PLCs.
Perform maintenance on facility.
Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
Complete daily maintenance and repair logs.
Communicate with operators from other shifts.
Maintain and secure work tools.
Clean and maintain work area.
Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
Other duties as assigned.
Provide on‑the‑job training to new team members.
Maintain and promote team member interest in safety.
Assist supervisors and leads with safety awareness, including reporting unsafe practices.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Advanced skills preferred in HVAC, welding, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic & pneumatic systems, plumbing, carpentry, piping systems, or PLC programming.
Ability and willingness to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
Forklift certification required upon hire.
Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
Ability and willingness to lift up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions
Normal manufacturing environment. Work may involve lifting of materials and products up to 50 pounds. Requires use of safety equipment including steel‑toed work boots, ear plugs, hairnet, hard hat, beard net (if applicable), chain glove and sleeve, belly guard, cutting glove (knife hand), wrist guard, and flame‑retardant clothing. Cell phones and jewelry are not permitted on the factory floor.
Personal Protective Equipment Requirement
Use of steel‑toed work boots, hard hats, hairnets, beard nets (if applicable), respirator (if required), and flame‑retardant clothing (if applicable).
