General Minimally Invasive Surgeon (MIS) – Assistant Professor, Jefferson Health – Philadelphia The Department of Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University is seeking a fellowship-trained General Surgeon in Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) for a full-time academic faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will join the Advanced GI/MIS Surgery team and will provide clinical services at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital – Center City Campus and Jefferson Methodist Hospital. Clinical Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive surgical care with emphasis on advanced minimally invasive general surgery. Perform general MIS procedures, benign biliary surgery, complex foregut surgery, and abdominal wall/hernia reconstruction. Evaluate and manage complex foregut and bariatric patients (this is not a bariatric surgery–designated position). Participate in emergency general surgery call coverage. Academic Responsibilities: Participate in resident, fellow, and medical student education. Engage in scholarly and academic activities; candidates with interests in clinical outcomes or translational research are preferred. Contribute to ongoing programmatic growth within the Advanced GI/MIS Surgery service. Work within a collaborative department of more than 70 surgeons across multiple campuses. Qualifications: Completion of an Accredited General Surgery Residency Program. Completion of a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive / Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery. Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery. Eligibility for a Pennsylvania medical license. Preferred: Interest or experience in robotic surgery.
