**Overview**
**Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine** is seeking applicants for a **TES** **Inpatient Vet Technician** to work in the Intermediate Care (IMC), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and Emergency Room (ER) section of our **Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital** . The individual in this position will work directly with board-certified emergency and critical care veterinarians and rotating intern doctors to help facilitate qualify care and patient flow through the IMC, ICU, and ER.
**This is a rotating overnight position. Schedule is Mon - Thurs, 10pm - 8am and Fri - Sun, 7:00pm - 8:00am.**

**Responsibilities**
+ Assists with administering treatments and monitoring patients admitted inIMC,ICU, or ER observes and records vital data, abnormal signs, body weight, food/water intake of animals, and collects and labels specimens and perform treatments and administer medications as prescribed by primary veterinarian.
+ Performs and demonstrates veterinary care techniques and procedures related to emergency and critical care medicine.
+ Assists veterinarians in the care of patients requiring advanced procedures and life-saving techniques includingCPR, mechanical ventilation and dialysis. Inspects facilities, equipment, and supplies daily, as well as observes health status of animals, environmental conditions, temperature, and sanitation.
+ Perform job duties with speed and accuracy and work as essential personnel, providing care for patients after hours, on weekends and holidays.
+ Assists with emergency triage and stabilization of patients presenting through the Emergency service.
+ May be responsible for, or assist in, billing clients, inputting charges, and/or similar tasks.
+ This position will work to provide care for patients after hours, on weekends, and holidays.
_This position involves direct contact with animals susceptible to rabies. Employees in this role must complete a rabies pre-exposure vaccination series and maintain adequate rabies antibody titer (≥0.5 IU/mL) as recommended by_ _CDC_ _guidelines._
_Auburn University will cover the cost of the rabies vaccination series, periodic titer checks, and any necessary boosters._
**Qualifications**
+ Associate's degree in Animal Science or related field
+ Active license with the Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medicine as a Veterinary Technician, OR
+ Have met all requirements to become licensed in the State of Alabama. Licensure must be obtained within 6 months of hire date.
