Mullican Flooring is seeking a highly motivated individual that wants a long-term career in hardwood flooring manufacturing. We are looking for an individual who is self‑motivated and has a willingness to learn and grow within our Company.

This is an entry‑level position that consists of assisting our boiler/kiln operators with operating and tending to our boiler to dry lumber, providing plant security, and fire watch. The Boiler/Dry Kiln Helper is someone with little to no experience that has initiative and a willingness to gain knowledge of the standard operating procedures to potentially become an experienced Boiler/Kiln Operator. Our wood‑fired boiler is a water‑containing vessel that generates steam. The steam is then transferred to the lumber kilns to dry the lumber.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Hourly rounds/walk throughs throughout the mill.

Responsible for cleaning up the boiler area and reporting of any potential dangers.

Assist boiler operator as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays according to schedule.

Understand and follow oral or written instructions issued by supervisors.

Perform a variety of duties which may often change.

Evaluate information using measurable standards.

Repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure.

Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure a machine is working properly.

Ability to work well as part of a team.

Ability to complete daily reports as required.

Understand basic mathematical skills.

Understand basic machine components and operation.

Safety

Follow all area/machine center specific safety regulations.

Wear all required personal protective equipment: hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc…as required.

Do not enter restricted areas.

Report immediately to supervisor any piece of equipment that is unsafe or functioning improperly.

Request assistance when a task exceeds individual knowledge.

Visually inspect equipment and area before starting/operating.

Whenever possible, eliminate unsafe conditions as soon as possible.

Use Standard Lockout Procedures when appropriate for machine centers.

Use proper lifting techniques by pushing, pulling, and lifting with your legs and not your back.

Follow all other safety regulations as set forth by the company.

Anticipated Minimum - Maximum Salary - $18.25 - $19/hour*
