With these benefits, plus the option for flexible schedules, we'll support you as you pursue a balanced, fulfilling life-at work and at home.** **Our team is comprised of 10 companies working together on one mission, Moon to Mars and then beyond** **External Description** The **Payload Integration Engineer** will perform Gateway and Moon to Mars (M2M) research payload integration support for the Gateway Program Mission Integration and Utilization Office (MI&U) and M2M Exploration Operations (ExOps) Office with NASA's International Space Station (ISS) Projects Office at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). **The Payload Integration Engineer responsibilities may include but are not limited to:** · Coordinating with Gateway module providers and subsystem managers regarding research systems, research payload integration, and utilization support. · Coordinating with Artemis Program personnel regarding research systems, payload integration, and utilization support. · Developing Artemis-level and/or Gateway payload integration processes and implementation plans, user's guides, and other utilization documentation. · Representing the Gateway MI&U and/or M2M ExOps to potential payload developers or vehicle developers. · Developing payload-specific documentation (interface requirements documents, integration agreements, operations products, etc.). · Supporting payload developers in integrating their systems into the Gateway or Artemis elements. · Reviewing technical documentation and requirements. · Authoring technical documentation, including M2M utilization requirements documents. · Developing requirements for ground equipment and facilities to test payloads during payload development and verification. · Conducting trade studies. · Developing presentations for and supporting Gateway-related and M2M-related control boards, panels, and working groups. · Supporting Gateway, Artemis, and payload milestone reviews and action closures. · Attend, participate, and support Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM) and Project Reviews. · Provide inputs to the identification of action items, action closures, and minutes. Qualifications Degree in Engineering or related field is required. Degree from an ABET-accredited university is preferred. Typically, educational requirement is a BS with10 years of experience, or a master's with 8 years of experience. **The following skills and experience are required:** · ISS or other spacecraft payload facility and/or research payload integration experience and a working knowledge of the NASA research payload integration processes and principles. · Understanding of the processes required to prepare hardware/payloads for launch and operations in a microgravity environment, including the processes associated with reviews, documentation, quality, and safety. · Strong problem-solving and stakeholder coordination skills. · Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be a US citizen **The following experience/knowledge is desired:** · Systems engineering experience. · Experience with technical data integration, DOORS Next Generation, Microsoft Office, and knowledge of web-based tools such as Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint. · Spaceflight hardware/software development or integration experience. · Human spaceflight safety requirements and analysis experience. · Payload development/integration experience with hardware in an unpressurized environment (i.e., external payloads) Essential Functions Work Environment Office environment.
