
Communications, Outreach and Events Intern

What You’ll Do
As a Communications & Outreach Intern, you will support City Utilities’ efforts to inform and engage the community. Working under the direction of the Chief of Communications and Outreach, you’ll gain hands‑on experience developing materials, supporting events, and learning how public utilities connect with customers and stakeholders.
This role offers valuable, real‑world experience and portfolio‑building opportunities through an individualized learning plan.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with planning, organizing, and supporting community events and outreach efforts
Help design and develop communication materials, including brochures, flyers, presentations, newsletters, and web content
Support the creation of visual displays and educational materials for public events
Assist with scheduling and coordinating presentations, tours, and outreach activities
Edit and refine outreach and communication materials for clarity and effectiveness
Contribute to initiatives related to water quality, recycling, stormwater, and community projects
What You Bring
Currently enrolled in a college or university (or pursuing) in communications, journalism, graphic design, or a related field
Completion of at least two years of college or technical coursework
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Basic design, editing, or content creation skills

Work Expectations
Work is performed in both office and community settings, including occasional events
