RLWF Procedure Writer ( Operations Support Specialist 2/3)

What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Operations Support Specialist 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities outlined below will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

The selected candidate will report to the Radioactive Liquid Waste Treatment Facility (RLWF) Operations Manager and provide operations support in developing, revising, and conducting field verification of facility level procedures to ensure compliance with LANL Conduct of Operations Manual (P315), Integrated Work Management Manual (P300) and the DOE Writer's Guide.

Operations Support Specialist 2

Develop and revise technical work documents in accordance with the DOE Writer's Guide, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with all nuclear standards, processes, and procedures.

Support validation of the technical basis of written procedures by reviewing relevant technical and regulatory documents and performing operational walkdowns.

Ensure compliance with PA‑AP‑01000, Document Control Processes, and communicate revisions to this procedure.

Operations Support Specialist 3

Oversee the implementation of documentation systems and ensure compliance with all applicable document control and records management activities and security/compliance implications.

Develop advanced concepts, techniques and standards based on professional principles and practices related to operational support activities.

Lead and oversee self‑assessments and incident investigations, ensuring accurate development and/or processing of required reports and recommendations.

Integrate facility‑specific requirements into readiness review and implementation verification review program documents and assist in delivery of readiness review training.

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements

Knowledge and experience developing, revising, and approving technical work documents in accordance with the DOE Writer's Guide.

Demonstrated ability to validate the technical basis of written procedures by reviewing technical and regulatory documents and performing operational walkdowns.

Knowledge of and ability to enforce DOE Orders pertaining to Nuclear Facilities (DOE O 420.1c, Facility Safety and DOE O 422.1).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills.

Familiarity with work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock‑out/tag‑out policies and procedures.

Exceptional customer service, organizational skills, and ability to interact with all levels of personnel internal and external to the Laboratory.

Ability to self‑supervise and work under consultative direction toward predetermined long‑range targets.

Additional Job Requirements for Operations Support Specialist 3

Advanced knowledge of the attributes of a sound conduct of operations program.

Familiarity with all Department of Energy training, qualification, and readiness requirements as they pertain to the assigned facility.

Advanced understanding of the safe operation of industrial facility and process equipment/systems.

Advanced understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock‑out/tag‑out policies and procedures.

Proficiency in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting facility operations and operational quality assurance.

Education and Experience
Operations Support Specialist 2: Associate's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and 4 years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Operations Support Specialist 3: Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and 5 years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Post‑graduate coursework may be desirable.

Desired Qualifications

Previous experience at a DOE Nuclear Facility, Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, or Commercial Nuclear Power Plant.

Knowledge of LANL's P315, Conduct of Operations Manual.

Onsite position located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
