Student Navigator position focused on supporting Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) students at Onondaga Community College.

Job Description
The Student Navigator provides comprehensive support services to EOP students. The role focuses on students’ transition to campus, academic planning, goal development, problem resolution, and overall academic success. The Student Navigator partners with faculty, academic support, and student services staff to support student retention, persistence, and completion.

Responsibilities

Serve as a case manager and on‑campus mentor for EOP students.

Partner with students’ networks, including faculty and school navigators, to support success and monitor progress toward academic goals.

Collaborate with faculty advisors to maintain a co‑advising relationship.

Use Lazer Success (Starfish) and other systems to monitor student success and implement intervention plans.

Coordinate referrals to appropriate services to overcome social and economic barriers.

Provide accurate information about college policies, procedures, and resources.

Engage in case‑management practices that promote self‑sufficiency, resilience, and independence.

Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized academic success and retention plans.

Monitor and document student progress in institutional systems, ensuring compliance with EOP reporting standards.

Participate in and facilitate workshops on professional development and college success topics.

Contribute to planning and implementation of the EOP Pre‑Freshman Summer Institute.

Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college, university, or foreign equivalency.

At least two (2) years of experience coaching, mentoring, or managing student caseloads in a program that supports student education.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in higher education, student affairs, or a related field preferred.

Previous employment in an educational setting.

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred; English and another language considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience working with culturally diverse and underserved populations.

Proficiency in student information systems and retention platforms.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Ability to handle confidential information sensitively.

Additional Information

Salary: $44,000–$55,000, commensurate with credentials and experience.
