Position Description
Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in St Joseph, Missouri— offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.

Pay & Bonuses

Hourly Pay: $29.50 per hour

Certification bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification, up to $700

Quarterly bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)

Sign‑on bonus: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days

Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends off

Hours: First shift 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred)

Basic tools required

Experience repairing automotive gas or diesel engines, including:

Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)

Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems

Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)

All other certifications required by location (required)

Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)

Must have at least 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment

Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.

Must obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire

Pass a Ryder drug test

Pass a DOT physical

Pass a Ryder road test

Pass Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance, diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers, completing detailed inspections and repairs with minimal supervision, replacing defective components, and working unsupervised on most tasks.

Perform facility maintenance duties.

Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once a task is assigned.

Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and available electronic documentation.

Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT).

Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels.

Demonstrate ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents.

Perform other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support).

Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220).

Complete two of the OEM on‑line diagnostic scan‑tool software courses as required (predominant OEM fleet completed within 365 days).
