A Day In The Life at MKS
As an Opto/Mechanical Technician at MKS you will be responsible for the advanced assembly of optical systems for lasers, laser radars and electro‑optical sensors and instruments.
You Will Make an Impact By
Audit 1‑2 work order kits from warehouse to confirm pieces and part numbers
Prepare subassembly components
Follow written procedures or drawings developed by engineers and suggest improvements to optimize production
Assemble and debug systems incorporating optical, mechanical, and electronic components
Test each level of assembly (4‑5 processes) at the system level using laboratory instruments such as interferometer and Zygo
Alignment, optimization, stability, transmission, etc.
Package the final assembly daily (if assembly is completed)
Cross training is required (trainee and/or trainer)
Skills You Bring
0‑2 years of related experience for Level 1
2‑3 years of related experience for Level 2
The ability to read engineering drawings
The ability to work in a clean‑room environment
Experience entering data numbers into Microsoft Excel spreadsheet templates
The ability to speak, read, and write in English
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly Pay Range: $17.02 – $31.56 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.
Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
