Foreman (Fence Installation) - State College, PA

Under the direction of project managers, lead assigned fence installers to erect and repair fences, gates and guide rail using hand and power tools.

Primary Responsibilities

Establish the location for a fence and gather information needed to ensure there are no electric cables or water lines in the area.

Determine appropriate locations for operations or installations.

Align posts, using lines or by sighting, and verify vertical alignment of posts, using plumb bobs or spirit levels.

Measure and lay out fence lines and mark posthole positions, following instructions, drawings, or specifications.

Dig postholes using spades, posthole diggers, or power-driven augers.

Set metal or wooden posts in upright positions in postholes.

Mix and pour concrete around bases of posts or tamp soil into postholes to embed posts.

Nail top and bottom rails to fence posts or insert them in slots on posts.

Stretch wire, wire mesh, or chain link fencing between posts and attach to frames.

Attach fence rail supports to posts.

Assemble gates and fasten into position.

Weld when necessary.

Nail pointed slats to rails to construct picket fences.

Construct and repair barriers and other types of fences, walls, and gates.

Other responsibilities as directed or assigned.

Position Specifications

Minimum Education: Certification or related experience.

Minimum Experience: 2-5 years of industry experience (years preferred).

Supervision Level: Reports to Project Managers and direct supervisor of installers.

Pay rate: $23 - $27/hour depending on experience & bonus opportunities.
