Position Summary
This entry level position is designed to develop technical expertise in a specific area of specialty. It involves activities such as conventional plans, investigations, surveys, structures or equipment with limited complexity. The role may lead small- to medium-sized, non‑critical projects and/or provide field oversight of critical projects under the direction of a higher-level engineer or supervisor. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy, and accuracy. As proficiency grows, the engineer may work on portions of larger projects and may supervise or coordinate the work of interns, drafters, craft personnel, technicians, and other employees.
Essential Responsibilities
Uses and applies technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to perform activities/assignments of limited scope.
Assists in the development of technical documentation (designs, testing, calculations, reports, standards, etc.) and may help create procedures.
Provides ongoing technical support for project activities in Operations, Maintenance, Testing/diagnostics, Regulatory, etc., and may oversee field engineering for commissioning, testing, inspections under direct supervision.
Coordinates or leads projects or portions of projects (research, design, equipment selection, procurement support, installation, and commissioning) under the direction of a higher-level engineer or supervisor.
Supports bid/evaluation processes by performing basic analysis and calculations on existing documentation and materials for bid documents. Communicates effectively with other business areas during technical evaluations for proposals.
Effectively exchanges information both inter‑organizationally and with outside customers/vendors on matters of varying importance and complexity.
Coordinates the work of interns, drafters, technicians, and other junior staff and provides guidance and mentoring. Responsible for continuous self-development of technical skills and competencies.
May perform budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accounting, and work order management in support of engineering projects.
Minimum Requirements
Required bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum (or recognized equivalency).
0+ years of relevant engineering experience.
Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies for this engineering level as established and documented by the organization.
Preferred Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Preferred EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/ Fundamentals of Engineering).
Salary
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $70,000.00 to $88,666.66 per year.
