Position
William Charles Construction, a MasTec Company, is hiring an experienced Roadway Project Manager in Springfield, IL and surrounding areas. The role requires managing various road and highway projects and will involve semi‑remote: 50% travel average (e.g., 2 weeks or 10 days per month). A company vehicle and fuel card are provided; meals and lodging are provided for overnight stays.
Responsibilities
Manage field operations and contract administration, including safety, personnel, subcontract scheduling, material and equipment procurement, and schedule.
Plan safety and coordinate all field operations.
Identify potential change orders and manage scope, field condition, and performance changes.
Create and manage budgets.
Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships, mitigate risk and cost overrun.
Plan equipment, personnel skillsets, means, methods, and update schedule.
Maintain accurate cost accounting, schedule impacts, change order logs, and communication logs.
Submit monthly cost‑to‑complete projections.
Manage contract value as affected by weather, change orders, and quantities completed.
Report weekly quantities completed in Viewpoint.
Make weekly budget updates.
Reconcile change orders every 30 days with customers and vendors.
Track purchase order committed costs accurately.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Education and experience may be considered.
5-10 years of Project Management experience in concrete production, slipform paving, curb and gutter, and bridge deck placement.
Proficiency with HCSS or B2W estimating, P-6 or Microsoft Project scheduling, HCSS HeavyJob, Procore, Vista Viewpoint.
OSHA 30‑hour certification.
Excellent communication, problem‑solving and team‑management skills.
