Keith Company, designs and manufactures state-of-the-art industrial furnaces, kilns, and ovens sold to domestic and international customers. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team.
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all aspects of the design and testing of mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Drive a continuous improvement-based vision for the team and manufacturing processes.
Perform process calculations for thermal and mechanical systems.
Design mechanical parts and assemblies for thermal processing, automation, and process machinery.
Work with Electrical Engineering manager to implement instrumentation and controls.
Manage CAD design team in creating and designing sketches, layouts, and drawings.
Use CAD software to create preliminary and detailed models and drawings.
Draft specifications for mechanical components and instruments to meet system requirements.
Specify materials suitable to the thermal and mechanical requirements of the application.
Perform FEA simulation where appropriate.
Support manufacturing team answering their questions
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
Maintain records and reporting systems according to the company standards and industry regulations of Keith Company ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
Prepare requisitions for components and materials for manufacturing MRP.
May need to travel less than 10%.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent mechanical and technical skills.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others.
Ability to work independently and work in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient with computer-assisted design (CAD) software; SolidWorks, PDM, ACAD, etc.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PPT, OneNote, Outlook 365, and MS Teams).
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
At least five years of job-related experience required. Prior experience working with furnaces and/or kilns is beneficial.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Standing, climbing, or kneeling is necessary to evaluate large mechanical structures.
Must be able to lift 30-40 pounds at a time.
Must be able to access and inspect all areas of the facility.
Work Environment
This job is suited for somebody who enjoys working in a small team for customers in the aerospace, aircraft, medical and energy sectors.
