What this job involves
As a Lead Electrician at JLL, you will provide critical technical leadership and hands‑on expertise to ensure the seamless operation of sophisticated electrical systems in commercial building environments. This leadership role combines advanced electrical troubleshooting with team supervision, requiring you to oversee installation, maintenance, and repair projects while ensuring strict NEC code compliance and safety standards. You will manage high voltage systems up to 115 kV, lead emergency response efforts, and mentor a team of electricians and apprentices to deliver exceptional service to our clients. Working in a dynamic environment that values both technical excellence and leadership development, you will play a vital role in maintaining system reliability, optimizing energy efficiency, and driving JLL's commitment to operational excellence and client satisfaction.

What your day‑to‑day will look like

Supervise electrical installation, maintenance, and repair projects across commercial facilities, ensuring NEC code compliance, quality standards, and timely project completion while managing material requirements and resource allocation.

Troubleshoot complex electrical systems including high voltage distribution (115 kV/15 kV), switchyard operations, motor controls, PLCs, and automation systems, providing technical guidance and hands‑on support to resolve critical issues.

Lead and mentor a team of electricians and apprentices through task coordination, work quality monitoring, performance feedback, and professional development while participating in hiring decisions and maintaining crew certifications.

Develop and enforce comprehensive safety programs including Job Safety Analysis, Lockout/Tagout procedures, electrical PPE management, safety briefings, incident investigations, and NFPA 70E compliance protocols.

Interface directly with clients and property managers to provide technical explanations, service resolution, system performance updates while collaborating with HVAC, plumbing, and construction teams in cross‑functional coordination sessions.

Oversee preventive maintenance programs, emergency response operations, system commissioning, and performance testing while maintaining detailed project documentation and ensuring optimal energy efficiency across building systems.

Review electrical plans and specifications, conduct root cause analysis for system failures, manage Kirk Key switching operations, and maintain current knowledge of electrical codes, best practices, and emerging technologies.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma with completed electrical apprenticeship program (4-5 years) and valid electrician's license (journeyman or master level required).

Minimum 5 years of electrical experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead capacity managing electrical teams and coordinating projects.

OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification (or equivalent JLL safety training) with demonstrated knowledge of electrical safety protocols and NFPA 70E standards.

Proven experience with commercial/industrial electrical systems, NEC code interpretation, and medium voltage systems (115 kV/15 kV) including Kirk Key switching operations.

Technical proficiency in reading electrical schematics and blueprints, troubleshooting motor controls and PLCs, and operating electrical testing equipment for power distribution systems.

Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to clients, property managers, and cross‑functional teams while leading team development initiatives.

Physical capability to lift 50+ pounds, work at heights, access confined spaces, and perform hands‑on electrical work in various environmental conditions including emergency response flexibility.

Preferred Qualifications

Master electrician license with specialized high voltage certifications, Arc Flash training, NFPA 70E certification, and power system analysis credentials.

Advanced experience with 15 kV distribution systems, substations, 480V switchgear operations, and sophisticated electrical testing and calibration systems.

Knowledge of CMMS systems for maintenance management, predictive maintenance technologies, and emergency power restoration procedures.

Background in boiler controls, powerhouse instrumentation, substation operations, variable speed drives, and atmosphere monitoring for refrigeration systems.

Experience with advanced test equipment including power monitors, calibration systems, and specialized diagnostic tools for high voltage applications.

Work Shift:

Standard with emergency response flexibility and after-hours support as needed

Salary/Comp:

$42.00 hourly

Estimated compensation for this position: 87,528.00 - 87,528.00 USD per year
