Electrical Inspector Supervisor – Clackamas County Department of Transportation & Development
Clackamas County is seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector Supervisor to coordinate and supervise the Building Codes electrical section, ensuring high‑quality customer service, technical compliance, and field inspection excellence.

Responsibilities

Supervise a team of electrical inspectors, providing daily direction, scheduling, and performance oversight.

Conduct and review electrical plan reviews for all project types, ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and policies.

Provide technical guidance and assistance to staff and customers, resolving complex electrical issues.

Perform field inspections, evaluate electrical materials, products, and installation methods, and author accurate inspection reports.

Maintain a collaborative working environment, fostering teamwork and continuous improvement.

Represent the department publicly, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience, including electrical inspections, reading electrical wiring diagrams and construction plans, and interpreting electrical codes.

Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC) and Electrical Specialty Code Inspector (EI) or State of Oregon A‑Level Electrical Inspector certification required at hire.

Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience with daily work direction, training, and performance management.

Minimum of three (3) years of customer service experience interacting with employees, vendors, and the public in a professional manner.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, record‑keeping, and computer‑based reporting.

Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional supervisory experience, including staff training and performance evaluations.

Experience evaluating electrical materials per manufacturer listings and installation methods.

Ability to calculate electrical loads and work with high‑voltage installations.

Experience with the Oregon Minor Label Program (Electrical) and Electrical Master Permit Program.

Pre‑Employment Requirements

Pass a post‑offer physical assessment.

Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record; regular driving for County business required.

Veteran’s Preference: submit qualifications during application.

Work Schedule
Position is full‑time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Hybrid on‑site/telework is available, subject to department needs. Telework must be within Oregon or Washington; Washington residents must work 50% on‑site.
