Resident Field Engineer – Sewer Rehabilitation

Overview
We are seeking a
Resident Field Engineer
with experience in
linear water/sewer rehabilitation
to support a major utility project in Boston. This is a
fully onsite role
providing
Owner’s Representative services , working closely with contractors and design teams to ensure successful field execution.
This is a
project-based assignment
with the potential for extension or conversion to a permanent role, depending on project needs and performance (not guaranteed).
Key Responsibilities
Act as Owner’s Representative, providing
technical field support
to contractors
Review and interpret
construction drawings, specifications, and RFIs
Coordinate with design engineering teams to resolve field issues and implement changes
Provide subcontractors with direction in alignment with
contract requirements and project schedule
Monitor subcontractor performance for
technical compliance and schedule adherence (CPM)
Perform
material takeoffs, field estimates, and quantity tracking
Review and approve
subcontractor progress payments and daily logs
Maintain accurate
site documentation and construction records
Support
contract administration , including interpretation of subcontract requirements
Prepare and manage
extra work authorizations (RFMPs/WAs)
Assist with
quality assurance inspections and testing verification
Ensure compliance with
safety and quality standards
Coordinate with procurement, subcontract administration, and field leadership
Provide direction to field personnel, subcontractors, and vendor representatives
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
(Civil preferred, not required)
2–6 years
of construction management and/or design experience
Experience with
underground utilities, sewer, or water infrastructure projects
Ability to read and interpret
engineering drawings and specifications
Strong understanding of:
Construction processes
Scheduling and cost control
Field coordination
Strong
communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
PE (Professional Engineer) License
Experience in
contract administration
Familiarity with
EPC project environments
Supervisory or field leadership experience
