Toolmaker Injection Molding, Manufacturing
— The Tool Maker is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and repair of precision injection molds used in thermoplastic manufacturing. This role supports production by building and maintaining high-tolerance tooling components to ensure optimal mold performance, product quality, and production efficiency.
The position requires expertise in manual and CNC machining, mold assembly, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of injection molds. The Tool Maker collaborates with engineering, quality, and production teams to diagnose tooling issues, implement mold improvements, and support new mold builds or modifications. Responsibilities include interpreting engineering drawings and CAD models, machining precision components, fitting and assembling mold systems, and verifying dimensional accuracy using precision measurement tools. Success in this role depends on strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience with injection molding tooling systems including cores, cavities, slides, ejector systems, and cooling circuits.
Responsibilities
Fabricate, assemble, maintain, and repair precision injection molds for thermoplastic components
Interpret engineering drawings and CAD models to machine and assemble mold components
Machine precision components using manual and CNC equipment
Assemble mold systems, including cores, cavities, slides, ejector systems, and cooling circuits
Diagnose tooling issues, perform troubleshooting, and implement mold improvements
Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure mold reliability and production efficiency
Support new mold builds or modifications as required
Verify dimensional accuracy using precision measurement tools
Qualifications
High School degree (Preferred)
Tool maker certification or CMM/equivalent preferred
3–5 years of experience in CNC machining (mills, lathes, surface grinders, EDM, wire EDM) and in fabricating, assembling, and repairing precision injection molds
Experience with mold maintenance, troubleshooting, and modification to resolve molding defects
Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
Compensation and Schedule
Pay Range: $32.00 – $40.00 per hour. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st shift, 6:00am – 2:30pm. Overtime and quarterly bonuses available.
