Opportunity Overview
Substation Commissioning Manager of Renewable Energy. 1-year contract (W-2). Work on behalf of the project Owner as a Commissioning Manager on a portfolio of renewable energy (wind, solar, battery storage). Responsible for execution of assigned renewable power plant projects and teams related to commissioning, start-up and operational turnover.
Reports To: Project Manager / Commissioning Director
Location: Onsite substation. Per diem available.
Your Day-to-Day
Ensure assigned projects' commissioning activities are performed with high quality and follow all safety policies.
Coordinate and manage EPC contractor personnel, OEM start-up personnel, third-party start-up contractors, and operations personnel on site, as it relates to site commissioning and startup.
Ensure project reliability at operational turnover with plants exhibiting as little lost time in initial operation.
Comply with all project contractual documents, including Power Purchase Agreement and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement deliverables with local utility.
Coordinate with Transmission Operators and Independent Service Operators to ensure project energization dates are achieved.
Manage client’s onsite commissioning personnel.
Work with the project's designated safety, engineering, and quality control parties.
Who You Are
Electrical construction and commissioning methods knowledge including NEC and NFPA.
Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) integration and troubleshooting.
Experience with E&I controls and instrumentation installation, startup and troubleshooting.
Experience with protection and controls implementation and troubleshooting.
Draw review quality control inspection and progress reporting skills.
Ability to manage third parties and suppliers.
Management experience of direct report team members.
Schedule and planning understanding.
Preferred Background
15+ years’ experience in on-site project support for renewable power generation project construction, start-up, and commissioning.
3+ years’ experience working for an EPC in renewable power generation project construction, start-up, and commissioning.
Track record of working with engineering personnel on technical issues.
Experience working with construction personnel on constructability, schedule, and cost issues.
