Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our client's team in Birmingham, Alabama. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a key role in managing tax compliance and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements. This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your expertise in corporate tax, property tax, and sales and use tax in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review corporate tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Manage sales and use tax filings, ensuring timely submissions and adherence to tax laws.
- Handle property tax assessments and payments, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather financial data required for tax filings and audits.
- Provide guidance on tax-related matters, including compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Conduct research on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure organizational compliance.
- Assist in developing strategies to optimize tax liabilities and streamline reporting processes.
- Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Maintain detailed records of tax filings and transactions for internal and external reporting.
- Work with external consultants or advisors as needed to address complex tax issues.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate tax, sales and use tax, and property tax.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software and tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- CPA certification or equivalent is preferred but not required.
