Journeyman Electrician

Job Summary
Holds a current Oregon or Washington Journeyman or Oregon LME or Washington EL07 license. Other equivalent state licenses will be considered. Conducts, maintains, tests, and repairs electrical and electronic systems and components with little supervision – strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Consistently demonstrates the ability to lay out work and work independently. Applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provides skilled electrical/electronic and mechanical support to all areas of Manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

Perform all duties following company safety rules and regulations, including NFPA 70E

Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic, instrumentation, and pneumatic equipment, including but not limited to programmable controls, AC & DC Drives, power supplies, instrumentation, gauges, and test equipment

Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and instrumentation, following local and national electrical codes and principles of operation and application of electrical equipment

Advise operators and line mechanics on operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components

Perform preventive and predictive maintenance functions as directed

Maintain company‑required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment

Assist maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting of hydraulic and pneumatic systems

Assist and train other maintenance and technical level employees

Be available for overtime, including call‑in on off‑shifts and weekends to perform emergency repairs as necessary

Complete any other tasks required to maintain plant operations as directed

Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematic wiring diagrams, and process and instrumentation drawings

Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills

Strong math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and use of algebraic formulas

Ability to work at heights, climb ladders, use scissor lift and man lift, and work at depths such as in trenches, manholes, and vaults

Ability to operate power equipment for cutting, threading, bending, drilling, and grinding

Forklift and scissor lift operation

Must be self‑motivated, responsible, and dependable without close supervision

Physical Requirements

Ability to climb in overhead structures, work beneath machines, and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work

Regularly lift and carry up to 30 pounds

Constantly stand, walk, bend, and move about the production mill

Reach, stretch, and bend to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance and bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working

Work in extreme hot and cold temperature conditions

Discriminate between colors

Experience / Education

High school diploma/GED required

3–5 years of experience in the electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic fields required, and must demonstrate high proficiency in these areas

Previous Electrical Maintenance Experience Preferred

Two or more years of production experience

Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities

Work Environment
Production mill with exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals, requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, eye protection, hand protection, and steel‑toed boots.

Monday‑Friday overtime as needed.
