Role Overview
The successful candidate will perform Supplier Quality oversight of suppliers, with particular emphasis on suppliers of Mechanical commodities (Pumps & Machinery). This oversight will include interfacing with suppliers in order to audit/assess the supplier's Quality Management System and their capabilities for performing critical manufacturing processes, perform related studies to help ensure that Engineering and Procurement specifications are met, initiate/validate supplier corrective/preventive actions to drive resolution of problems discovered during supplier assessments, and help train/develop suppliers. Candidate may also investigate or coordinate the investigation and resolution of material-related non-conformances, and interface with internal Procurement and Engineering functions to facilitate the development and communication of part ordering requirements. Technical writing and customer relations skills are essential. Must be able to obtain DOD security clearance. Working experience in a manufacturing environment is desired, preferably including Quality Engineering such as inspection, auditing, statistical analysis, quality assurance and quality control. Prior experience in a Supplier Quality Engineering role is a plus. Project management/leadership experience is desired. Lean and Six Sigma training/certification is desired.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and 5 years of relevant exempt experience;

Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience;

Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.

Prior experience in engineering design environment;

Prior experience in supplier quality role/environment;

Prior experience in shipyard waterfront operations;

Prior experience in manufacturing/process engineering environment;

Experience in auditing;

Data analysis experience using MS‑Excel;

Technical writing and customer relations skills;

Six Sigma and/or Lean training/certification.
