Mobile Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic
Overview
Murphy‑Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Mobile Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic who will perform heavy‑duty mechanical truck repair and maintenance off‑site at customer locations. The technician will develop relationships with customers to achieve labor sales quotas and increase sales to assigned accounts in a designated territory.
Responsibilities
Perform routine mechanical repairs and maintenance on heavy‑duty truck equipment and related components with general supervision.
Coordinate customer repair orders with Service Manager and Shop Foremen for task assignment, and with Service Advisor for proper work scheduling of all mobile maintenance business.
Advise customers of needed service work and suggest additional labor, parts, and body shop sales whenever possible (e.g., preventive maintenance inspections, related service work).
Follow safe work practices, use safety equipment when required, respond to suggestions for working safely, and seek assistance when necessary. Ensure proper safety, care, and maintenance of company vehicles and report any damage to equipment or property immediately to supervisor.
Maintain favorable relations with customers.
Create and close repair orders in the MHC business system to document the repair work performed and the time spent completing the repair; complete paperwork as required to accurately document the work performed.
Control business expenses within the approved expense budget and be responsible for tooling and parts inventory on the service truck.
Oversee operations of assigned customers in the territory; call upon key accounts (current and prospective) regularly. Introduce items such as preventive maintenance, new products, and promotions, reemphasize existing products and services, and provide literature as necessary.
Achieve labor sales objectives and quota for assigned accounts.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Any person performing the position while under the influence of marijuana or any other illegal drug may constitute a threat to health or safety or in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death, including without limitation a position that includes the operating, repairing, maintaining, or monitoring of heavy equipment, machinery, aircraft, motorized watercraft, or motor vehicles or handling of hazardous materials and/or waste as part of the job duties.
Qualifications
Minimum three years’ heavy‑duty truck repair experience.
A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector certifications required; Engine and Component certifications are a plus.
Must be self‑motivated and capable of working with little supervision.
Must have a commitment to customer satisfaction and perform quality repairs.
Must have excellent communication skills and a positive can‑do attitude.
Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.
Class A or B CDL and/or DOT medical card may be required depending upon the size of the mobile service vehicle.
