This is an AmeriCorps/Washington Service Corps national service position open until filled. Gonzaga University's Center for Community Engagement (CCE) works to address food insecurity by partnering with ZagDining by Sodexo to recover and repurpose surplus food from campus kitchens. We collaborate with local organizations, schools and community members to distribute recovered food and meals to those in need in the Northeast Spokane neighborhoods, where access to healthy grocery stores is limited. The member will support all aspects of the program from recovery to food delivery, recruit, coordinate, and supervise volunteers, and interact with a diverse range of people. Applications are being reviewed mid‑late May. Monthly stipend amount: $1,942.
Member Duties
Provide operational support for the recovery and repurposing of excess food from Gonzaga University’s kitchens.
Assist the program manager in recovering food and preparing meals.
Maintain and harvest from the kitchen garden.
Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to prepare and deliver meals.
Support regular food deliveries.
Collect data, assist with reporting, and administer program assessments.
