**Description**
SAIC is seeking a **Value Engineer** located at **Redstone Arsenal in Alabama** to support the **Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) Express** contract to use systems engineering and SAVE International methodologies to identify and implement cost‑effective solutions across acquisition, production, and sustainment phases to ensure all recommendations maintain or improve safety, reliability, quality, and mission effectiveness in regards to aviation systems on the Apache, Black Hawk, Chinook etc. and missile systems.
**JOB DESCRIPTION:**
+ Execute Value Engineer (VE) studies using the VE Job Plan: Information, Function Analysis, Creativity, Evaluation, Development, and Presentation.
+ Conduct Function Analysis System Technique (FAST) to identify essential functions and cost drivers to identify opportunities for cost reduction, cost avoidance, and performance improvement.
+ Develop and interpret life‑cycle cost (LCC) models, cost-benefit analyses, and ROI assessments.
+ Generate, evaluate, and recommend alternative design, material, or process solutions.
+ Integrate approved VE changes into technical data packages, configuration baselines, and sustainment plans.
+ Facilitate VE workshops, technical interchange meetings, and design reviews.
+ Prepare Value Engineer Proposals (VEPs), technical reports, and executive‑level briefings.
+ Track VE metrics, savings, and implementation progress.
+ Support compliance with applicable VE/VM policy, including FAR/DFARS VE clauses when required.
**Qualifications**
**REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:**
+ Bachelors and two (2)+ years of relevant experience; additional four (4) years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.
+ Experience in value engineering, cost reduction, systems engineering, and/or product improvement.
+ Strong foundation in mechanical, electrical, industrial, and/or systems engineering.
+ Proficiency in cost modeling, trade studies, and quantitative analysis.
+ Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data.
+ Skilled communicator with the ability to lead workshops and present findings.
**DESIRED SKILLSET:**
+ Familiarity with acquisition life cycles, configuration management, and sustainment planning preferred.
+ (DoD roles) Knowledge of Value Management (VM), FAR Part 48, DFARS 215.407‑4, and service‑specific VE/VM guidance preferred.
+ Value Engineer certification such as Value Methodology Associate (VMA), Associate Value Specialist (AVS), or Certified Value Specialist (CVS) preferred.
**REQUIRED CLEARANCE:**
+ Must be able to obtain a full Secret clearance, no Clearance required prior to hire, SAIC will help to obtain.
+ Must be a current US Citizen.
