
Electrical Estimator - Service & Projects

Overview
We are seeking a responsive and detail‑oriented Electrical Estimator – Service & Projects to support our service and maintenance division. This role is primarily responsible for developing accurate and timely estimates for electrical service work, maintenance, repairs, and small projects in active industrial and commercial environments. The position also performs plan/spec estimates and works closely with customers, field technicians, and service leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare estimates for troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, and small projects.
Develop T&M (time and material), NTE (not‑to‑exceed), and fixed‑price proposals.
Provide rapid‑turn quotes (same day to 48 hours).
Perform site visits to assess conditions and constraints.
Work with technicians to define scope from field findings.
Translate incomplete information into clear scopes and pricing.
Apply labor units, material pricing, and contingencies.
Evaluate historical data and market trends to develop and refine cost databases.
Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams.
Support profitability and quote conversion improvements.
Maintain strong vendor and subcontractor relationships for competitive pricing.
Assist in value engineering, design‑assist, and design‑build efforts as needed.
Participate in post‑job reviews.
Qualifications
Experience in estimating, service, or field roles.
Experience with service/maintenance estimating.
Ability to define scope with limited information.
Understanding of T&M pricing and field productivity.
Strong communication and multitasking skills.
Experience in the industrial or commercial construction industry (field and/or office roles).
Preferred Skills & Attributes
Proficiency with estimating software (McCormick preferred) and other construction software tools like Bluebeam.
Journeyman electrician experience preferred.
Strong understanding of NEC, construction sequencing, and industry best practices.
Electrical estimating experience with a focus on commercial and industrial construction.
Experience with design‑build or design‑assist projects.
Strong business acumen and ability to evaluate risk and profitability.
Knowledge of local labor markets, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Familiarity with industrial automation and controls.
