Senior Business Development Manager at Detroit Labs
As a Senior Business Development Manager, you are an individual contributor who will lead the strategic acquisition of new clients and drive the sales of our services and products at Detroit Labs. Your role is pivotal in spearheading initiatives across both outbound and inbound channels to maximize revenue generation. You will collaborate extensively with various teams within the company to craft and implement delivery strategies that are meticulously tailored to meet the specific needs of our clients.

In this capacity, your creativity and innovative thinking will be essential for designing custom solutions. Through cross‑functional collaboration, you will ensure these solutions align perfectly with client requirements. A significant part of your role involves building and nurturing strong, positive relationships with key client partners and decision‑makers, especially at the executive level.

Your responsibilities will also include occasional to frequent travel and in‑person engagements, which are vital for deepening client relationships, expanding professional networks, and presenting tailored sales proposals. As a senior leader, you will work closely with colleagues in sales, marketing, account management, and client delivery to conceive and execute strategies that lead to compelling proposals and successful business outcomes.

This role demands a proactive approach to contract negotiations and deal structuring for new business initiatives, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals and client satisfaction.

Requirements

10+ years of advanced sales experience in strategy, consulting, and digital solutions within the tech services, custom software, strategy, cloud, and/or IT sectors

Strategic 'hunter' mindset, expert at developing and leading comprehensive sales strategies to penetrate new markets and acquire significant business

Proven leadership in sales, with a robust history of consistently exceeding sales quotas by selling large‑scale, multi‑year digital solutions through complex and varied sales cycles

Expert relationship‑building skills with top‑tier executives, with a track record of influencing C‑level decision‑makers and forming strategic partnerships

Advanced travel and client engagement skills, comfortable with frequent travel to nurture high‑value relationships and close strategic deals

Senior‑level collaboration skills, working closely with cross‑functional teams to craft tailored contracts, compelling proposals, and persuasive sales materials

Sophisticated problem‑solving abilities, adept at managing complex client challenges and crafting innovative solutions tailored to client needs

Exceptional communication and presentation prowess, adept at engaging and persuading diverse corporate audiences, including top executives

Innovative and forward‑thinking approach, actively exploring emerging technologies to enhance client solutions and maintain competitive advantage

Responsibilities
As a Sr. Business Development Manager, your primary focus is on identifying and securing new business opportunities, a role crucial for the company's expansion and growth. Your responsibilities include:

Strategically drive new business development across digital strategy, custom design, custom software, staffing, and hosting offerings to expand market presence

Lead targeted outreach initiatives with support from sales development representatives, to cultivate a robust pipeline of potential new business leads and opportunities

Ensure Labs develops and maintains a strong pipeline of qualified new companies and brand engagements through strategic networking and market analysis

Research and pinpoint new business avenues, including emerging markets, growth sectors, trends, potential customers, partnerships, products, and services

Forge and deepen client relationships based on trust, respect, and demonstrated results, enhancing client retention and satisfaction

Innovate custom solutions that address client‑specific needs within agreed budgets and timelines, enhancing the value proposition of our services

Expand and nurture business networks; collaborate with the account management team to strategically grow and support existing client relationships, ensuring long‑term business partnerships

Serve as a leader on the Business Development team, mentoring team members and advising leadership when necessary

Collaborate with internal teams to create and execute new business development strategies and proposals or pitches to new and existing clients

Collaborate with the executive leadership team, business and team operations to participate in contract negotiations with customers and develop Statements of Work (SOWs) ensuring alignment with project scopes and deliverables

Craft and present sales pitches and meetings to potential clients and partners, showcasing the company's offerings and highlighting their benefits

Support the ELT and Director of Business Development with responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and crafting comprehensive proposals that demonstrate how the company's solutions meet potential clients' needs

Work closely with the marketing department to develop marketing materials and campaigns that align with business development goals

Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and other gatherings to promote the company and discover new business opportunities

Provide feedback and reports to senior management on the progress of business development activities, market trends, and potential growth avenues

The base salary for this role is $95,000 with uncapped on target earning (OTE) of $250,000/yr in bonus payout based on performance
