Sanitation Operator Level I
The Sanitation Operator is responsible for independently disassembling, cleaning, disinfecting, and reassembling machines and equipment. The role includes inspecting equipment after cleaning and sanitizing to prevent bacteriological contamination of cheese by properly sanitizing all department areas.
Key Responsibilities
Disassemble all packaging equipment for cleaning and disinfection.
Follow and adhere to all safety and GMP procedures and policies.
Take necessary measures if people are performing unsafe acts or are in an unsafe environment.
Perform daily swabs of equipment.
Reassemble all equipment taken apart and prepare equipment for production, ensuring production resumes on clean equipment in a timely manner.
Maintain a clean and organized work area by adhering to housekeeping and GMP procedures.
Interact with associates to maintain efficient process flow.
Maintain open communication with line workers, supervisors, and managers.
Perform sanitation duties as assigned by the sanitation lead and supervisor.
Report problems and/or concerns to supervisors and/or management.
Attend departmental meetings and training as assigned.
Perform other work duties as assigned.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED completion is preferred but not required.
1-2 years of experience in sanitation with solid understanding of sanitation standards and equipment operation.
Knowledge of chemical handling procedures.
Experience with CIP and COP.
No specialized knowledge required.
Skills & Abilities
Oral and written communication skills.
Comfortable working in wet, hot, and humid conditions for extended periods.
Ability to manage multiple tasks at once with frequent interruptions.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and cleaning products.
Commitment to regular and punctual attendance.
Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively with diverse backgrounds.
Understanding of safety importance, following safety rules and using appropriate safety equipment.
