Nexus Family Healing is hiring a Food Service Assistant at our location in Manteno, IL. The Food Service Assistant I performs activities associated with the Academy food service within pre-established guidelines and requirements.

Work Schedule & Salary

Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours per week

Pay rate: $18.50 per hour

Position Summary
Performs activities associated with the Academy food service within pre-established guidelines and requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

Perform general food service tasks within pre-established standard operating procedures and adhere to all policies and procedures surrounding food handling, sanitation, health, and safety.

Prepare and serve food and beverages for daily resident meals and snacks, as well as for Academy other events.

Collaborate with coworkers and exhibit and promote cooperation and flexibility with team members.

Maintain sanitation of all areas and supplies involved with food storage, preparation, and service.

Wash, maintain and store dishes, utensils, cooking/baking equipment, supplies, etc.

Ensure proper disposal of food and garbage processing.

Assist in inventory receiving, stocking and maintenance.

Assist with the development of food and beverage plans for the residents and other Academy needs as assigned.

Assist with daily meal menu planning in compliance with all nutritional and regulatory standards and requirements.

Assist with coordinating menus or food and beverage items for special events, meetings, or other gatherings sponsored by the academy.

Maintain accurate and timely records on meal counts, food usages, etc., as directed.

Ensure confidentiality regarding residents’ issues, background and treatment; comply with Nexus policies involving privacy and confidentiality rules for residents and their families; maintain appropriate boundaries with residents.

Remain current and adhere to all food service standard operating procedure, rules and instructions.

Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required by Nexus. Understand and support the Nexus philosophy and treatment modalities.

Required Education and Licensure

High School Diploma or GED

Certificate in Food Handling

Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Home Office driving requirements

Must successfully pass an IL DCFS criminal background check.

Successfully participate and complete a three-part Therapeutic Crisis Intervention exam and training

Must have the ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges.

Must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values.

Preferred Education and Experience

1 year of food service/custodial experience
