Starting Salary: $49.58 / Hourly
Number of Positions: 2
This position is open to the public and all current City employees covered under the City’s collective bargaining agreement with the TEAMSTERS- LOCAL 700 (BARGAINING UNIT 08). Hours include alternating shifts: 6:00 am – 2:00 pm, 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm, 10:00 pm – 6:00 am. Location: 210 W 69th Street.

THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, receives and transmits radio and telephone communications and dispatches appropriate equipment and personnel in response to vehicle and equipment breakdowns, service requests and emergencies.

Work shifts at the central Dispatch Center, providing city-wide vehicle repair and support services to Motor Truck Drivers and other vehicle and equipment drivers from all city departments, including Police and Fire.

Receive calls via telephone or two-way radios reporting downed vehicles, accidents, or other incidents; obtain information (nature of breakdown, location) and enter into the dispatcher tracking system (E-Trakker).

Dispatch service trucks, tire repair trucks, or tow trucks; direct downed vehicles to specific service garages for repairs.

Coordinate with vendor repair shops and department service garages and enter data into E-Trakker to track vehicle movement from inactive to active status.

Maintain communications and monitor the location of service trucks via GPS/CMAT systems.

Follow established protocols and notify appropriate personnel of incidents such as accidents, alarms, snow program activations, and other emergencies.

Access E-Trakker to generate reports on active and spare vehicles for operations including snow, refuse collection, and other departmental operations.

Maintain manual logs, complete forms, and prepare reports.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Two years of work experience in operating automotive equipment as a Motor Truck Driver OR two years of work experience in operating radio and communications equipment in a dispatch environment.

Standard office equipment; computers, peripheral equipment, and dispatch equipment

Two-way radio and multi-channel dispatch equipment

Selection & Additional Information
Selection Requirements:

This position requires candidates to pass a job knowledge exam. Test results will determine placement in seniority order for bidders and lottery order for external applicants.
