Overview
The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for all maintenance activities at our Richmond Recycle Center operating facility. The primary responsibility is to maximize equipment uptime, execute equipment maintenance and projects in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. The position may include draining and removing product from storage tanks to make repairs through tank openings, valves and pipelines while complying with all safety standards and rules set by management. The candidate must be a self-starter, able to manage multiple complex projects and tasks simultaneously and develop relationships at all organizational levels. This position is responsible for providing overall direction and coordinating all aspects of assigned projects and equipment to ensure projects are completed safely.

Responsibilities

Responsible for working safely in all job aspects and functions.

Perform electrical tasks including fuses, switches, repairing electrical wiring, and welding.

Assist in the continual development of the record-keeping system to log servicing of equipment and repairs; maintain neat and accurate maintenance records.

Maintain the upkeep of the maintenance area.

Be assigned to any of our facilities to perform maintenance as necessary.

Locate sources of problems by observing equipment in operation.

Dismantle and reassemble equipment for routine maintenance and repair.

Seek technical assistance from manufacturer support and vendors.

Welding, fabrication of braces, brackets, mounts; installation of equipment and controls.

Perform inventory checks and place orders for required material and equipment.

Ensure work is planned and coordinated according to the schedule with adherence to quality and budget considerations.

Maintain the project work site in a safe and environmentally sound condition per company, state, and federal policies and regulations including EPA and OSHA.

Assist in various job capacities to support efficient operations, when necessary.

Report activities to Operations Management and Corporate Accounting.

Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year Industrial Maintenance experience.

Previous experience operating industrial services units (e.g., equipment, vacuum trucks, manlifts, forklifts) preferred.

Welding (Stick or MIG) and fabrication of parts.

Light electrical/troubleshooting experience.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, or Designations

High school diploma or its equivalent.

Welding certification preferred.

Specific Skills

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required.

Ability to work independently without supervision.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Proven ability to operate, maintain and troubleshoot industrial equipment.

Ability to pass a mechanical aptitude test.

Must be able to read schematics and understand how electricity works.

Work Environment
While performing essential duties of this position, an individual will at times work at elevated heights with moderate physical activity including walking, climbing, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds. The position frequently requires work in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme heat, near moving mechanical parts and includes occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and to vibration. The individual will be required to wear protective equipment such as welding shields, hard hat, and hearing protection. Occasional work with hazardous materials may be required. Must be able to regularly talk, hear, see, and reach with hands, stand, walk, use a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment. Work hours will vary in length and schedule.
