Robotic Weld Operator - 1st Shift

Summary

The Welder is responsible for operating semi‑automatic robotic and 3‑axis torch control MIG welders to build assemblies per company specifications and customer expectations consistent with Bilstein’s quality and productivity standards.
Responsibilities

Maintain a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies, reporting near misses, wearing required PPE, and encouraging others.
Operate semi‑automatic robotic and 3‑axis torch control MIG welders.
Inspect product to ensure no weld defects such as undercut, porosity, cracks, blow holes.
Measure product symmetry and make adjustments to fixtures.
Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jigs or fixtures.
Identify correct fixture type per part number and install on equipment.
Navigate equipment HMI for recipe selection per part number.
Identify discrepant materials/components and escale to leadership.
Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules within standard times.
Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience

Demonstrated ability to identify incomplete weld penetrations and lack of fusion on welds.
Stable work history in manufacturing, strong personal desire to work safely, and maintain a safe working environment.
Strong customer focus, work ethic, and willingness to do what needs to be done without shortcuts.
Knowledge of basic math (including decimals) and strong mechanical aptitude.
Experience using hand tools and measuring devices such as calipers; ability to work with specified tolerances and to read simple or complex drawings.
Logical problem‑solving skills and willingness to learn and improve; committed to exceeding customer requirements.
Good hand‑eye coordination and ability to perform detailed work with strong attention to quality.
Requires passing a Near Vision Acuity Test.
Must be able to work required overtime during peak production periods.
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, perform repetitive duties, walk or stand for long periods.
Must be able to read and understand blueprints and work instructions.
Should be reliable, show good initiative, be committed, and quality focused.
Highly organized; able to work independently and as part of a team.
Exhibits integrity through fair, ethical behaviors and maintains accountability.
Strong attention to detail; well‑developed organizational and communication skills.
Proven experience developing work processes to improve outcomes for the team and customers.
Education
